Elstree & Borehamwood (ELS)

Our group gathered at London Bridge station in order to catch the 11.58 Luton train from platform 5.

We knew that Paul couldn't make it, but Keith, Anthony and Mark duly gathered 10 minutes early to discover that our train to Elstree was running 12 minutes late!

Our destination was 'The Wellington', a pleasant gastro pub on an unremarkable street not far from the station.

The Wellington

An unremarkable street

On arrival Anthony disappeared to the bathroom and was irate on his return, when he reported a lack of soap in there!

Main menu - there's a lunch menu too
A pint of Neck Oil for Anthony and Keith, and Old Mout Cider for Mark, all coming in at a little over £6, refreshed and relaxed us while we perused the menus (see pic).

Both Keith and Mark liked the sound of the salad, but salad was off, during summer! I'll let the irony sit with you awhile...!

Steak & ale pie
Fish & chips
Bangers & mash

(Ed. note: Couldn't get these 3 images to line up in a row, sorry)

Anthony opted for the steak and ale pie, and Keith eventually opted for fish and chips, while Mark had the bangers and mash.

We all cleared our plates, but the food was standard fare, nothing to rave about.

Nevertheless, another couple of drinks dispelled any disappointment and a thoroughly enjoyable trip ended with a train back to London Bridge which was actually on time.

Fabulous.
