‘H’ is for Hayes – the one in Kent!
The New Inn in Hayes (Kent) is easy to get to for all of us.
I got the train from
Catford Bridge and was there in less than half an hour: out of the station, across
the road and you are there.

The pub is great, it has great food, great service and lots
of visitors.
Keith had ham, egg and chips. Anthony had Mousaka and I had
cod and chips. We decided that all the food was delicious.

Interestingly, the cold food was served from a counter on
the bar and the waitresses added this to the plate before they served the food.
We hardly moved from our table. I got to the pub later than
my friends and one signal from Anthony had a waitress standing next to me
waiting for my drinks order which arrived in double-quick time.
Unlike most of the pubs we visit, there were at least four
people serving and they were everywhere.
The menu was extensive and as you can see from the different
choices we made.
We decided to have a pudding. Keith had Eton Mess, Anthony
had apple crumble and I had profiteroles. Again, delicious!

We couldn’t fault the pub. It was good to see an
establishment thriving at lunchtime.
