Keith and I gave The Chessington five out of five in the KP survey.
There were quite a number of people in the pub, many of them
eating and drinking bottles of wine.
Keith and I both opted for the mixed grill – steak, gammon,
sausage, mushrooms, chicken, chips, tomato and onions (£11.29). It was
delicious. I asked for blue steak and I got a blue steak. (Not something that
happens every time)

The Chessington obviously works at keeping its customers. It offers a poker night, a bingo evening and a quiz night. I suspect they are well attended.
Keith bought a pint of London Pride and I had the usual Carling Lager. Both worked out at about £4 a pint.
For dessert we had apple pie and custard, a pudding which
seems to be disappearing from menus.
In spite of being busy the lady behind the bar seemed unflappable serving lunches and pints.
Keith said the meal was so good and near (where we lived)
that he might be inclined to use this pub as his local, given the good food and
cheap beer. What more could you ask as a
recommendation!
